This document is the result of a long and arduous work process coordinated by Lynn Stephen president-elect of LASA (2018-2019) and in which different members of the organization participated in different sub-commissions from 2018 to 2020. In the latter year the survey constructed by these sub-commissions was applied to the LASA membership obtaining valuable and relevant information. The report below therefore shows the main quantitative and qualitative results derived from this exercise.
This report includes a specific hyperlink whenever mention is made of LASA's current anti-harassment and gender-based violence procedures. We hope that this will facilitate the effective consultation of the procedures so far in place in case any of our members feel that their situation is affected by any action that could fall under the category of harassment.
It should be clarified that the results of this report will be analyzed together with experts belonging to the main sections that work with discrimination issues related to gender, ethnicity, class, LGBTQ+ groups, etc. and that are also part of the membership of our organization.
We hope that this first exercise of diagnosis of the situation regarding harassment will be useful to improve both the organizational climate and the procedures necessary to give the appropriate channel to the processes required.
