La doctora en Estudios Americanos, Ximena Valdés Subercaseaux, recibió este viernes 29 de mayo el reconocimiento “LASA/Oxfam America Martin Diskin Memorial Lectureship 2026”, durante una ceremonia realizada en París, Francia.
Esta distinción internacional, destaca a figuras comprometidas con la defensa de los derechos humanos, la justicia social y la producción académica con impacto social, donde la investigadora y destacada intelectual chilena, ha desarrollado una extensa trayectoria vinculada a los estudios sociales, el mundo rural, las transformaciones culturales y las desigualdades en América Latina, contribuyendo de manera significativa a la reflexión académica y al debate público.
Valdés es, además, viuda del fallecido profesor emérito de la Universidad Academia de Humanismo Cristiano (UAHC), José Bengoa Cabello, reconocido antropólogo y referente de los estudios sobre pueblos indígenas y mundo campesino en Chile y América Latina.
