LASA's Statement on the situation of the academic community and society in Nicaragua

The cancellation without due process of the legal status of seven universities and sixteen associations and foundations linked to universities by the Nicaraguan government, and their subsequent nationalization in less than two months (between December 13, 2021 and February 2, 2022) alarms our association as it implies the cancellation of the values of academia: autonomy, freedom of thought and space for critical thinking.
